International Framework for Education in Democracy
An International Framework for Education in Democracy is an expression of a cross-cultural consensus on the central meanings and character of the ideas, values, and institutions of democracy. Its purpose is to identify common elements of the knowledge that should be included in the curriculum of any nation wishing to promote an understanding of democratic citizenship and is practice.
The Framework is intended for use by teachers, educational policymakers, curriculum developers, and teacher education and credentialing institutions responsible for training competent classroom teachers.
